1. Cancellation Policy
a. Retail Customers
Retail customers have 30 calendar days from the date of activation to request cancellation, subject to the terms of this written cancellation policy — including the return of any issued or shipped materials in acceptable condition, where applicable. Cancelling sooner — especially before your package has shipped — is usually faster to process.

Important: For all cancellations, if any parts, materials, decals, tags, labels, or package contents have been issued or shipped, they must be returned intact, unused, and in acceptable or original condition and packaging. All returned materials are subject to inspection to qualify for a refund.
Why refunds are based on time, not usage
Your CarSmarti protection is active the moment your account is activated — your vehicle is registered in the recovery network right away, and your LPR coverage runs automatically from that point. If your vehicle is reported stolen, a recovery search is initiated for you, whether or not you've applied your decals yet. Because that protection is live and working for you every day, any refund after the first 30 days reflects the months of coverage you've already received. It isn't a penalty, and it isn't based on whether you "used" the service — it's the value of the protection that was active on your behalf.
If materials are returned within 30 calendar days of activation and are in acceptable condition, retail customers qualify for a full refund of the amount paid, subject to inspection and any applicable requirements.
After 30 calendar days but before 60 calendar days from activation, refund requests may still be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. However, a minimum $49 restocking fee may apply and service usage during the active period may be taken into account. Some additional terms may apply depending on the package selected.
After 60 calendar days from activation, refunds are at CarSmarti's discretion depending on the package and services selected. In most cases, the cost of services rendered may be prorated, which may result in the loss of some or all of the restocking fee and/or deposit, depending on the package and time frame. The standard managed monthly service rate of $19.99 for the period services were active may be charged and deducted from any refund that may still be offered. Some terms and conditions may apply.
All ongoing service fees — billed monthly or annually — renew automatically, and you may cancel at any time to stop future charges. For annual plans, if you cancel partway through a paid year, the unused portion is refunded on a prorated basis — you are charged only for the months (or partial months) your service was active, and the remainder is returned. For monthly plans, cancelling stops your next charge; the current month is not prorated.
Additional conditions or requirements may apply depending on the service package selected.
b. Promotional & Distributor Enrollments
If you enrolled through an approved distributor or affiliate-marketing partner, your cancellation and refund terms are set by the agreement and welcome-package paperwork provided to you at enrollment. Those terms govern your account and supersede the standard retail terms on this page.
Your enrollment is genuine and backed directly by CarSmarti when all three of these are true, no matter which distributor or partner you signed up through:
- Your payment/transaction shows CarSmarti (not the distributor).
- Your activation emails come from CarSmarti.
- Your welcome package arrives from CarSmarti.
If you enrolled through a promotion, you will never owe more than the amount and terms shown in your mailed paperwork. The standard retail activation and monthly/annual fees on this page do not apply to you unless your paperwork says so. If you're ever unsure what you owe, call us before cancelling and we'll confirm your exact terms.
Every customer — retail or promotional — keeps the 30-calendar-day right to cancel described above, subject to return of materials in acceptable condition. For returns and cancellations, coordinate directly with CarSmarti at 888-992-6659 or info@carsmarti.com.
2. Return Policy
Retail customers may return their purchased products and services within 30 calendar days of the original activation date for a full refund, minus any applicable shipping charges. To initiate a return, please contact our customer service team at info@carsmarti.com or by phone at 888-992-6659 with your order details.
All returned materials — including decals, tags, labels, devices, and any other package contents — must be returned intact, unused, and in acceptable or original condition and packaging. Returned items are subject to inspection before a refund is processed.
3. Refunds
Refunds for cancelled orders or returned materials are generally initiated within 5–7 business days after returned materials have been received and inspected, when applicable. Refunds will be issued to the original method of payment used at the time of activation and purchase. In certain circumstances, a check may be issued directly to the customer. Processing times may vary depending on financial institutions or payment providers.
4. Exceptions
Services that have been activated, materially fulfilled, or utilized may not be eligible for a full refund, except where required by law or if found to be defective or not as described.
If returned materials are damaged, incomplete, altered, or not in original or acceptable condition, a minimum $49 restocking fee may apply. Additional fees may apply depending on the component and its condition.
Special promotions, discounts, bundled services, distributor-specific offers, or custom packages may have different cancellation and return terms. Customers should refer to the specific promotion, service agreement, or wholesale distributor terms for details.
By making a purchase on our website or through an authorized distributor, you agree to abide by the terms of this cancellation and return policy. CarSmarti reserves the right to update or modify this policy at any time without prior notice.
